I stopped back at Home Depot and purchased the paint and came home bubbling over with excitement of my color choice. Tucson Teal…I was in love!
After the first coat it was hard to tell how it was going to look yet I knew that I definitely wasn’t loving it. Especially in the dining room there seemed to be way too many shades of blue going on between the tablecloth, curtains (that I switched in from the living room) and the BRIGHT teal corner shelf!
I was tired and disappointed and was about ready to paint it all white again. I wanted to cry thinking of the fact that I had bought a gallon of this paint and now it might all be a waste! My husband was the voice of reason and said, “just wait.” In an effort to make sense of things I went around the house trying to find other pops of color to offset things a bit. Suddenly all of our accessories were now on our coffee table as I attempted to see if I could make this teal thing work.
Truth be told, it works. I don’t know how it happened but IT WORKS! Hallelujah, I don’t have to spend more time at the store shopping for paint…or buying paint…or painting! There have been a few other major things that have come together in the dining room that just makes me want to scream: AWESOME! Things that I haven’t gotten to share with you yet. I don’t have time to write about it right now but I will be revealing it next week once it is done. I have a contest to enter and the deadline is the 21st! Thank goodness even what we might think is the ugly can sometimes be turned around if we just wait, think, and have our wise husbands calm us down along the way! Mommy of five by day, designer of our perfect dining room by night! It is going to be GOOD!
Have you bought paint before only to have it be totally wrong? What have you done, did you make it work anyway, or come up with a different solution? Isn’t decorating fun and tiring ALL at the same time?!?! 🙂
